Themes

Themes are words or phrases that describe a certain style of clothing or dress. During a round, a theme is displayed at the top of the screen, and players have 6 minutes to make the most fashionable avatar in that style.

Themes can describe the overall aesthetic or look of the outfit, or the type of clothing used. While some themes include broad spheres of fashion, others are highly specific and may require players to make creative use of the items available to them in order to match the theme.

As of July 19th, 2026, Dress To Impress houses over 790 themes. Some themes were removed due to a variety of reasons, including racism, discrimination, and a lack of creativity and originality. Examples include "Nail tech," a theme which got removed as players would opt to dress up as Lana, creating outfits that lacked originality and went against the prime idea of Dress to Impress - creativity. Another theme, "I would never wear this," got removed to prevent racism and discrimination against other races, ethnicities and religions as players would dress up in cultural, stereotypical outfits to mock certain races, ethnicities and religions, reflecting xenophobic attitudes.
