Julie

Story

Not much was known about Nurse Julie other than the fact that the she started to work as an intern at the Home of the Doves Medical Center, right on the 1st of December, 2012, despite her parents' worries. Julie had support from her parents during her internship, and she happily continued this until the year 2013. A new patient named Lana was admitted into the medical center on December 13th, 2012. Julie quickly got attached to her, becoming Lana's light in a dark time in her life. On May 12th, Nurse Julie recorded new symptoms she felt recently: her mind felt hazy, and she began to hallucinate that someone was watching her. She expressed her anxiety about telling the senior nurses, fearing they would dismiss her as "crazy." She also didn't want to jeopardize Lana's progress, as Lana's symptoms were improving around this time. Nurse Julie also noted that Lana had been reading books on Greek mythology. Months later, during the winter season, Nurse Julie recorded another tape. She had been an intern for over a year and was preparing to graduate high school and begin nursing school. Around this time, Lana expressed her opinion that Nurse Julie should quit. Nurse Julie misinterpreted this as jealousy and distrusted Lana's claim that she cared about her. She felt conflicted and noted that she looked and smelled different, expressing concern about her own deteriorating condition. Nurse Julie's final tape was a message for Lana. She stated that "he revealed himself to me today," and that "he's going to make me suffer." This "he" is widely believed to be Agamemnon, who had followed Lana to the hospital and targeted her closest friend. He revealed to Nurse Julie that the curse was never lifted and that her suffering was entirely Lana's fault. Nurse Julie expressed regret for trusting Lana, but Lana had already left the medical center, as her illness had "seemingly" vanished. Agamemnon intended to turn Nurse Julie into a monster, an act that would both satisfy him and protect Lana. Nurse Julie apologized to Lana, promised to visit her, and pleaded for her forgiveness before ending the tape. Soon after, Nurse Julie transformed into the monster Agamemnon promised she would become. She went on a rampage, attacking people and leaving the hospital in a state of chaos. Patients and staff fled in terror, with many trying to reach the rooftop to escape. The aftermath left the medical center empty and destroyed, with only collecting dust, flipped furniture, and Nurse Julie remaining inside.

Recordings

In chapter 2 of the Lana Lore Quests during the Halloween 2024 update, if you go to the second floor, then turn right and walk until you reach the corner of the second floor, you will find Nurse Julie's office. On her desk are two items, A tape recorder and a map piece. Picking up the map piece will alert Nurse Julie. The tape recorder has multiple recordings ( click this if want to hear it ) on it, each containing a small amount of Lana lore, as well as some lore on who Julie is. 1st recording: "Testing, testing, 1 2 3! The date is December 1st, 2012! It's the first day of my internship at the hospital! My parents were a little worried, as you can imagine. Interning at a creepy hospital for medical experience isn't exactly the ideal dream they envisioned for their teenage daughter. Regardless, I'm glad they trust me." 2nd recording: "There's a new patient around my age, named Lana, who just arrived a few weeks ago. Oh! And the date is January 18th, 2013! I feel... drawn to her for some reason? But I probably just pity her, after all that could be me in her shoes! She was recently locked up in a room for lashing out, I snuck her some cookies from the vending machine! I know it was against the rules, but I couldn't help it! I believe she deserves kindness." 3rd recording: "Future official nurse to be, Julie here! the date is March 22nd, 2013! Its finally spring! It's so beautiful in the staff courtyard, I wish I could take Lana outside of the hospital to see the newly grown flowers... I picked some fresh anemones for her room today. She- didn't know it was me who placed them there! If she can't experience it herself, then I'll bring spring to her!" *at this point in the tape, Julie starts coughing* " Ugh... I think I'm coming down with a fever... I don't... feel so good these days..." *The tape cuts off as she has another coughing fit* 4th recording: "The date is- uhm... what was the date again..? Oh, uh right... it's uh... May 12th, I think? I'm not sure if I only have a fever at this point. My mind feels... hazy... some days. And I'm starting to hallucinate that someone's watching me while I sleep... I'm scared to tell the senior nurses, I don't want them to think I'm crazy! I would tell Lana, but she's finally starting to get better, and I don't want to jeopardize her progress, besides... she spends the majority of her time obsessively reading those stupid mythology books now..." 5th recording: "It's winter again. I've been interning here for a little over a year now. I'll be graduating high school in a few months... and soon I'll get out of this place and start nursing school... Lana told me I should quit... She must be jealous of me... I don't believe her when she says she cares about me. I feel so conflicted nowadays... I'm always angry... I look and smell different... I don't know what's happening to me... but I'm scared..." 6th recording: *Julie starts the tape recording and she can be heard breathing heavily* "He revealed himself to me today... He said that he's going to make me suffer! And that its all Lana's fault! It's... It's not my fault for loving her! Lana was right this entire time... she was never crazy!... But she's gone now... she's free! If me turning into a monster will satisfy him, and protect her, then so be it. I'm sorry, Lana! I promised I'd come visit you after you got out! He said if I give in to it, He'll leave you alone. I have to protect you Lana... And I hope that one day... you'll forgive me..." 7th recording: The entire tape consists of many people screaming. A voice cries out, "Help me!" along with another person yelling, "She's gone mad!" A third voice can also be heard saying "Get to the rooftop!" before the tape ends abruptly. (This commotion is most likely a result of Julie becoming the "monster" Agamemnon said he would turn her into. The abandoned and extremely messy hospital with only Julie left that we see in-game proves this.)

Appearance

Nurse Julie looks to have rich auburn hair, donning a desaturated cyan nurse outfit, complete with a nurses hat. As a human, she has tan skin and vibrant green eyes. As a monster, her lipstick is dark red and slightly smudged (supposedly blood). She wears an eye patch, possibly because of the fly that landed directly on her eye as told by Lana's journal. Her other eye is shining and grey-blue in color, with dripping mascara. Before she was corrupted, she was more well kept, had green eyes, and freckles, as well as no eye patch. after saving her in the Valentines Quest, she looks as she did before being corrupted but also wears an eye patch.

Personality

Unlike all the other characters who are either evil or in the gray zone, Julie is the only one who is truly good (at least before she got corrupted) Despite only being heard in recordings , it has been heard time and time again that she is a nurturing soul with a pure heart. Unlike the other characters such as Lina and Agamemnon, Julie wants to help Lana with no ulterior motives. Julie grows fonder of Lana as they spend more time in the hospital even sneaking in cookies for her saying the latter deserves kindness. Her ultimate heroic act is when she sacrifices her sanity to which turns her into a mindless monster. She did this to protect Lana from Agamemnon as she believed that turning into a monster will save her from him.
